Computer science is the systematic study of computing systems and computation. The body of knowledge resulting from this discipline contains theories for understanding computing systems and methods; design methodology, algorithms, and tools; methods for testing concepts; methods of analysis and verification; knowledge representation and implementation; and ways of understanding what computing can and cannot do. The Master of Computer Science curriculum at East Carolina University, North Carolina, prepares students to work in industry or to pursue further graduate study towards a Ph.D. in computer science or another closely related field.
